Mostly Mozart, 24 November 2013
St Patrick's Church, Greystones

In November 2013 we returned to the lovely St Patrick's Church in Greystones for a concert of Mostly Mozart. The choir sang the choruses (and a few solo parts) from Mozart's Mass in C major, the Domenicus Mass and his Mass in C Minor, the Waisenahus Mass, composed when Mozart was only 12. The choir also sang two pieces by Faure, Tu es Petrus and Tantum Ergo and Britten's Te Deum in C. The conductor was David Brophy ad Fergal Caulfield was on the organ. It was a taster for our upcoming series of Mozart Masses, to be sung with orchestra and soloists from February 2014 through til May 2015. More details will be available shortly.
Feile na Bealtaine 2013

Thanks to funding by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, in 2011 Dún Laoghaire Choral Society commissioned a new work for choir by contemporary Irish composer Shaun Davey. The premiere of "The Songs of the High Seas" was performed by the choir, Shaun Davey and some of Ireland's leading traditional musicians, Liam O Flynn, Noel Eccles, Rita Connolly, Des Moore, Liam O Beaglaioch & Lawrence Courtney, in front of a a sell-out audience at the National Concert Hall on March 3rd 2012.
DLCS was delighted to be invited to sing these irresistible, rousing sea shanties once again at the Feile Na Bealtaine festival in May 2013 in Dingle. Led by David Brophy and accompanied once again by Shaun Davey, Rita Connolly and the others, it was one of our most uplifting performances, in front of a packed house, in an outstanding setting. There was plenty of craic too, as there always is on our weekends away!
Looking Back, Moving Forward
150th Anniversary Concert of the Dún Laoghaire Presbyterian Church
23 March 2013

DLCS was invited to perform a concert to celebrate 150 years of the Presbyterian Church on York Road, Dun Laoghaire. Accompanied by the outstanding, award-winning soprano Claudia Boyle, we performed a programme of opera choruses such as Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana, Nabucco and Il Travatore, amongst others. We also sang works by Britten, Handel and John Whitfield-Clarke.
The choir was conducted by David Brophy and accompanied on the organ by Fergal Caulfield.
