Tenor and Bass Workshop, Tuesday 8th Sept.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to sing in a choir? On Tuesday, 8 September at 7.30pm, Dun Laoghaire Choral Society will open the rehearsal room doors for a special workshop for tenor and bass voices at St Patrick's Parish Centre, Monkstown.

Led by our Music Director, John Doyle, the evening will give you a genuine taste of life at DLCS. You'll experience the energy, camaraderie and thrill of singing with others, while exploring music from Bach, Fauré and Schubert, and maybe a traditional Irish favourite.

Whether you're an experienced singer, or you sang years ago, or you are curious to see what choral singing is all about, you'll be very welcome. Anyone interested in coming to the workshop should fill out the form here. Please email secretarydlcs@gmail.com  with any queries.

Requirements for everyone!

Although you are not required to have had formal voice lessons, all members are expected to be able to sing on pitch, in accurate rhythm, and to have reasonable sight-reading skills.

If you would like to enquire about joining the choir, please complete this form with your details including name, email address, voice ( ie SATB) and choral experience . These details will assist the musical director in shortlisting people to attend an audition.

Please contact the membership secretary at the following email address if you have any specific enquiries. membershipdlcs@gmail.com

What actually happens at an audition?

If the thought of auditioning for a choir sounds a little daunting, our Music Director John Doyle is here to demystify the whole thing!

The accompanying videos form part of our series looking at what you can expect when you audition for Dun Laoghaire Choral Society.

We start with the basics — major and minor scales. Don't worry… there’s no terrifying music exam! The aim is to show you what the process involves and put your mind at ease.

Watch this space for the next instalments, where John will take you through more of the audition process.

And remember — our Tenor & Bass Recruitment Workshop is on Tuesday 8 September. It will be a completely relaxed, zero-pressure way to come along, sing with us and see what we’re all about. Give it a go. We’d love to hear you!
